A Left Over
My brother, Temi, appeared on my radio about two months ago.
He became the co-host of our afternoon air magazine, “Kopi Sore”. Mbak Fia –the permanent presenter- accompanied him for five days, from Monday to Friday, after hosting the first two prime hours of the show. Then, on the last half an hour of the program, my brother blabbed about his music, his guitarist experience and also his album which was released in February this year.
At first, I didn’t tell anyone that he is my sibling (to avoid suspicions that I wanted to popularize my own brother :pp), but Andre -the program’s producer- noticed it right away from our similar surname: Puspawardhani and Puspa Wardana. Yea, yea…
Previously, my brother has already released a self-titled album in 2001 with his former band, “Salta”. Their album was produced by Bulletin Musik and offered bossanova music. This time, my brother formed a rock band named “Bandroll” (an abbreviation for ‘Bandarnya Rock and Roll’ or The Master of Rock and Roll) and released an initial album titled “Kontrol”. The album’s producer is Pay ‘Slank’, a prominent rock musician, and was launched under Warner Music Indonesia label. You have to listen to their songs! I recommend “17+” and “Harus” on their new album. I will be responsible if you don’t like those pieces, but you have to buy the CD/cassette first to find out, don’t you? ;)
Temi’s week long appearance on air brought a sudden fan: Data! :D
Well, he’s not a sudden fan, actually. Data is my brother’s long time friend and he showed up at my radio because I rang him to be a ‘secret mystery caller’ on the earlier show.
Data didn’t change a bit although he was already married to a Canadian woman now. My brain still deeply memorizes the cute Data boy: an adorable lad who always got highest marks in class and loved playing Richard Clayderman instrumental pieces in piano. When we were in ITB, I could find Data more easily in worker demonstrations or meditating in his Buddha Ethics class rather than in Architecture studio.
I just remember about this because Erika buzzed me a couple of days ago and excitedly asking whether my brother is Giring, the vocalist of a new pop band, Nidji. Well, they both have the same curly hair, though ;)
