High school crush

I already wrote this in Indonesian, but then I decided to change it to English. Why? Because I think I kinda feel embarrassed to talk about high school crush in Indonesian language :”) (Yea yea.. then you’d rather write this in English, where most of people in the world can understand that? Not to mention the guy himself who’s fluent in English and also reads your blog? :p) Well… I guess using English makes the story not as obvious as the Indonesian one …. :p
Anyway…
Couple of months back, I had quite intense contacts through the net with he-who-must-not-be-named :p ‘He’ is my high school crush. A cute guy with perfect smile, flawless teeth and excellent brain. Seeing his writings and pics on the net took me back to teenage years more than a decade ago (I graduated high school in 1996). I don’t really fond him much, actually. I met a lot of cuter guys in high school and I don’t think he’s outstanding enough. But one thing that makes him so memorable to me because I used to admire him secretly with my junior high school friend. Let’s call her Adeta.
Adeta and I took the same bus when we went home from schools. That made us closer and became friends. In junior years, I used to spend a lot of time in Adeta’s house, reading Aneka Yes! magazines (my family only had HAI Magazine, magazine for boys), gossiping each other classmates, joined Quran lesson together (I wasn’t good at this) and studying for national exams (we both took additional academic course at Santo Lukas). In senior years, I rarely met Adeta again because we had different class and I think the academic requirements in our school made it hard to see each other as often as we used to. But sometimes I met Adeta when we were waiting for S-60 bus after school. On these ‘precious’ rare meetings, we kept on gossiping each other classmates :p Adeta told me about this cute guy in her class who’s kind to her and treated everybody with the same respect. I agree with her. He’s adorable and also nice to me. I can’t remember how I became his acquaintance, but he surely was polite. I think I gave him a birthday card on the second year of high school. But as I wrote earlier, I met a lot of cuter boys and forgot him easily.
What do you know… technology improves and (hate to say this –it sounds like a freakin’ commercial ad) I met the guy again on friendster two years ago, exactly ten years after Adeta told about him in a first place. He doesn’t remember Adeta anymore (although he admits that he still remember me in high school years). Well I guess both of us can be easily forgotten in high school. I used to wear thick minus-10 glasses and permanent braces. Adeta had a lot of pimples and her body was heavier than the average high school girls in my time.
But this thing reminds me of one Indonesian chicklit story titled ‘Cintapuccino’. The story is about a lady in her mid twenties who is still obsessed with her high school crush, Nimo. They finally meet again after Nimo came into her life out of nowhere. The story closed with a happy ending when they get married and ‘live happily ever after’ (I’m a spoiling book reviewer, don't complain).
Do I want my story to have a closing like that? Naaahhh…..
Well first of all, I’m not as obsessed with the guy as the chicklit lady with Nimo. Secondly, one thing that crosses my mind is not exactly the guy himself, but Adeta. I don’t know where she is right now. I called her phone number and visited her house but she doesn’t live there anymore. I google her name but I just can’t find the right Adeta. I ask my high school friends but nobody seems to know where she is.
I just want to meet her and if I do, I will share the story about the cute guy we used to adore secretly in high school.
